Favourite blue nail varnishes for Winter

Winter is well and truly here, and so I wanted to write about some of my favourite nail varnishes for the season. There are so many however, that I decided to focus on mainly blues. Like most people, deep reds and purples are favourites for Winter, but I am partial to blues as well because they reflect the cold weather more than a bright nail would. I don't tend to wear blue nail varnishes throughout the year (aside from neon) because I much prefer brighter colours, so when Winter comes around I whip them out and put them to use.

First up is "Blueberry Icecream" by Barry M. I love this colour because it's so simple but pretty. To me, it's a standard blue that needs nothing else to make it look good. It's opaque so really, only needs one coat.

Next up is "Lapiz of Luxury" by Essie. This varnish I actually bought on a whim when it was 3 for 2 in Boots, so I didn't hold any expectations for the colour. However, I have grown to really like it. It's a bit in between a lilac and blue, edging more toward to blue side slightly. I don't usually go for lilac because I don't particularly like the colour for an all-over colour, but I do like this one.

Finally is "Beach Bum Blu" again from Essie. This is a medium to dark blue that reminds me of the ocean because of the shimmer to it, it's so pretty and pearlescent. It's like a blue version of Essie's "Trophy Wife".
