Barry M Nail Varnish

I recently bought myself some new nail varnishes after having not bought any for a while. I wanted some lighter, pastel-y shades (that aren't green or blue) because I want to get some lighter colours that aren't neons. I settled on Barry M's "Rose Hip", a new one from the Gelly Hi-Shine collection. The colour is new pretty, a very light, baby pink colour, quite milky in fact. The colour from the bottle compared to on the nail is pretty much identical.

I really love the colour, however the application let me down a little. One coat and it was extremely streaky and thin. Two coats and it was a little better, but still rather patchy with slight streaks. Three coats and it was almost opaque, you could get away with it, but with four coats to me it seemed perfect. Four coats is a lot for nail varnish, it takes a lifetime to dry. I know that it's a paler colour so would naturally need more/thicker coats, but four is an awful lot.

Being a Gelly nail varnish, you don't really need a top coat as it looks like there's already one on there (of course). It's a very smooth, glossy finish without a top coat, but if you want extra hold you could always add one anyway.

Overall, I do like this nail varnish, I like the colour and the finish, but the number of coats and application let it down. I would recommend it though, if you don't mind the extra coats and drying time!
