One book a week - week nine!

This week I read another book from last week's author, Rainbow Rowell. I read 'Fangirl' which was only printed last year. I heard great things about this (again) and so decided, why not.

"Cath and Wren are identical twins and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university and Wren#s decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair anymore - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She would rather bury herself in the fan fiction she writes where there's romance far more intense than anything she's experience in real life.
Now Cath has to decide whether she's ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and shes realizing that there's more to learn about love than she ever though possible..."

To be honest, I wasn't too sure about this because it seemed to be a lot about fan fiction (something I don't read. I understand it, but I don't engage with it); I was skeptical. And, well, it was quite heavily based around writing fan fiction, but not TOO much (makes sense?). Being a young adult/teen book, there was of course romance. One that I thought was actually quite cute and sweet, Levi was adorable. I do think it's quite clear the teen/university romance was written by an adult for younger people, though. One part made me cringe quite a lot (sorry!!!). It was descriptive and detailed, the imagery was fab. The ending though, I'm quite annoyed by... I don't think it 'ended' rather there was just 'an end'. I would've liked more closure. Some topics, such as alcohol addiction and even mental health were touched upon, and I think they could've been developed more or given an ending (they disappeared), but maybe that's just because of the target audience.

Overall, I did enjoy it! It was an easy and enjoyable read, and I love cute stories, no matter if they're a tad unrealistic.
