But that's only a handful of people. Not everyone will be the next Abraham Lincoln, not everyone will be the next Rosa Parks, and not everyone will be the next Nelson Mandela. But, that doesn't mean we won't be as great as them in our own ways.
For us, our history and our greatness is made up of the little things. The little things like walking along the beach on the edge of the sea, like spending the evening watching your favourite television shows, like spending time with the people most important to you, like working hard in school, anything! Appreciating the little things helps to remind us why we enjoy being here. Dwelling on the bad things will only make us sad, and being sad is never good! Taking time to admire what we have and what we can see is important to everyone, and making the effort to want to appreciate the little things will make everyone happier.
What makes us great is the little things we do for other people that we don't think twice about. As simple as smiling at a stranger on the street, picking up a toy that's fallen out of a baby's pram to save their parent from bending down, simply complimenting someone. Anything that makes someone smile.
It's these things that I think are the most valuable. Of course, it would be amazing to reach out to tens of thousands of people and help them, or to start a company from scratch (hello, Alan Sugar), or to become a political leader. But unfortunately we can't all do that, so we need to enjoy what we can do, and make the most of it. Because whilst it's amazing to read and hear about what people before us have done, it's also amazing to appreciate what we can do.
It's the little things that make us who we are, that gives us memories, that goes into our own history books.
this is beautiful... and SO true! :)
