I love antiques and vintage shops, because you never know what you'll come across and always find something that you never would really think about. From furniture to jewellery, to books, to clothes, to household nicknacks, to items from wars, there is anything and everything to be found in an antique shop.
One of the first things I came across was this 'vintage' mirror. I'm not fussy on extravagant mirrors, but I thought this was quite cool and would be something that someone who enjoyed glamorous furniture would like.
This was one of my favourite things that I came across, if only I had my own has I would have bought it! It's a very simple wooden board with the infamous "Keep Calm and Carry On" slogan on it. It looked genuinely old, rather than fashionably vintage.
Another of my favourite items I found was this metal wall plaque. There was countless different types of these with all sorts of designs, like cars and kitchen inspired. This kind of thing is something I really love and would love to own one, but -sad face- I don't have my own house.
I also found this quaint little tea pot. There were many, many variations of tea pots like this, house, faces, cars, etc. I don't particularly like them as a tea pot, but as a decoration, someone might enjoy them!
The historic and personal items were some of the most interesting. This particular one is a trunk that belonged to a Marine officer from years and years ago. I believe it was tin (it wasn't very think metal at all), and was so rusty and worn, it was a feeling of awe thinking about when it was used and by who.
This, again, was one of my favourite 'finds' and if I had the money I would have bought it! It's a type write, which may not be hundreds and hundreds of years old, but still interesting! I love type writers, love, love, love them; I'm not sure why I love them, I think it's the feeling of using something so clever but simple that makes it special.
There was a selection which was surprising, but this was the best I thought.
This is something that gave me a blast from the past. Published in 1926, this book is always a hundred years old (not this exact one, but you know.) My mum used to read this to my brothers and me, which wasn't only about 10 years ago, not quite 100. I really wanted to buy it because our copy was ruined when our garage flooded, but I didn't have the right cash on me at the time -sad face-.
This one made me laugh. It's not exactly antique, but I thought I would include it for the sake of it. A Harry Potter lunch box, how cute! As you can tell from the image on it, it's not the most recent film, rather it's from the early 2000s! There was a lot of film and television memorabilia, which I was more 'collectable' than antique.
This vanity table I really loved. I thought it was so vintage looking and classy, as well as pretty! As I mentioned, I'm not the biggest fan of fancy and extravagant mirrors, but there was something about this that made me love it. It needed a bit of cleaning up, but would look good as new after! Sigh.
